"Revision" Teaching the Curriculum Everyday Practices

How do I revise a standard math curriculum to meet the needs of my individual students?
After thirty years of teaching, Mary Hurley finds herself comfortable with a professional stance that includes reflective questioning, continual learning, and an openness to "not knowing." This site attempts to make visible the ongoing ways in which she is revising her practice. Balancing the requirement that she adhere to a district's strict curriculum pacing guide with the individual needs of her fourth and fifth grade students, Hurley focuses upon a process of reflecting and revising her math instruction on a weekly, daily, hourly, and moment-by-moment basis. This notion of "revision" is one that guides her practice in subtle ways, but the outcomes are apparent in all areas of her teaching.
